ROALD DAHL LITERACY DAY

On the 17th May, fourteen students chosen from Severn Beach and Almondsbury Primary Schools, came to join us to help celebrate the work of Roald Dahl. Working with some of our Year 10 students they created their entries for the Blue Peter Big Dream Competition. In addition they rehearsed and performed some brilliant pieces of drama based on dreams and the tricks that Mr and Mrs Twit may play on each other at breakfast time.

All the students had a brilliant day and came up with some excellent ideas for their dream stories with fantastical characters and make believe lands. We look forward to celebrating National Roald Dahl 100 Day with them on September 13th 2016.

A DAY IN COURT!
A group of aspiring barristers, solicitors and policemen visited Bristol for a very special visit to the Crown Courts. Accompanied by Mrs Clark, after going through bag and personal security, they were able to visit a court room, ask a crown court judge questions about his role and then play the role of both jury and witness as the judge talked them through assessing credibility of witnesses on the stand.

The students were then privileged to witness sentencing, bail hearing and preliminary sentencing in the public gallery.
It was an exciting and interesting visit which gave the students plenty to talk about as well as witness the realities of court and the impact on families of crime.

We are hoping this visit will run again so that more Marlwood students can benefit from this experience.
